As vehicle connectivity and attack surface are growing, along with the amount of data used and generated by them, the importance of automotive cybersecurity becomes paramount. To address the vulnerabilities associated with connected image sensors, onsemi takes a proactive approach to implementing comprehensive cybersecurity measures. By incorporating authentication mechanisms, secure data transfer protocols, and monitoring within the image sensor hardware, onsemi provides countermeasures against unauthorized access, tampering, and data breaches.
The common purpose of cybersecurity and functional safety in automotive is to ensure the safety and security of the vehicle. onsemi recognizes the critical role played by these two aspects in delivering safe and reliable image sensor solutions for the automotive industry.
This session highlights how cybersecurity and functional safety go hand in hand to avoid making the automotive image sensors the weakest entry point of any automotive system. The reliable performance of image sensors is key for capturing correct video data and supporting safety-critical functions in vehicles, while robust cybersecurity measures protect image sensors from potential attacks, ensuring the integrity, reliability, and privacy of the information they manage. In this presentation, you’ll see examples of how onsemi sensors deal with random hardware failure using safety mechanisms covering pixel-to-MIPI data path, and how they are protected against spoofing, control channel and video data tampering to avoid compromising the systems in which they are integrated. onsemi demonstrates its dedication to integrating cybersecurity and functional safety in its automotive image sensors, contributing significantly to the overall safety and security of automotive systems.
